Everyday Luxuries

Should You Move to the City or the Suburbs?

Whether you should move to the city or the suburbs seems like a very difficult decision. After all, there are pros and cons to both of them, right? But you don’t have to make a decision between the two. It doesn’t have to be a competition. When you step back and look at it outwardly, you can see that there are far bigger decisions than the city or the suburbs.

Your lifestyle has to dictate where you move. Are you married? Do you have kids? Are you planning on having kids? Understand that renting will give you ultimate flexibility, but if you are going to buy, you have to be willing to commit to your place for the next five to ten years, minimum. So these lifestyle questions are essential components to determining where you want to live.

Your work is another important component. In most cases, people like to be closer to their work. If you work from home, it may not matter, but a simple search through Canada 411 will show where some available property is near your work. Whatever you decide about location as it relates to work, you’ll be much closer to your answer.

Don’t forget to include price as a factor. In the end, it’s not about where you want to live, but rather where you can afford to live. Find a place that makes the most of your budget and you’ll have all the answers you need. Financial peace of mind will win out over all.
